CURRENT FELLOW
Dr Karolina Anna Siwicka
MD PhD, Spec. in Trauma and Orthopaedics
Areas of interest:
Adult and Paediatric Limb Reconstruction, Osseointegration
I completed a Trauma and Orthopaedics training at Gdansk Medical University in Poland, and a postgraduate PhD program at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan. In the interim I took upon an academic position at a Division of Sports and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, which I renounced following graduation, to spent almost three years at a charity paediatric orthopaedic hospital in Malawi. Later I had an honour of undertaking a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics under Prof Peter Cundy and Paediatric Limb Reconstruction under Prof Leo Donnan in Australia, followed by training in Foot and Ankle and Osseointegration Under Dr Tim O’Carrigan and Prof Munjed Al Muderis.
My professional interests are in Paediatric and adult limb deformities and in 3D analysis and reconstruction. I also find the concept of Endo-Exoprosthesis for rehabilitation of amputee patients genuinely fascinating.
Together with my family we enjoy travels, off-grid camping, trekking and all outback and wild-life activities. Ulitmately, we all hope to remain connected to the Sub-Saharan region through both our works and lives.
